Skip Crawford
Owner and Operator
Skip has recently come in to some me time and now does his custom leather-working as a full-time career. Leather work has been Skip’s way of remaining grounded since he was 8 years old and received his first Tandy Leather kit from his father. He has continued on in his education ever since.
After giving his beautiful wife Becky a horse for Mother’s Day in 1991, he came to the realization that he could make the tack they were using almost as easily as purchasing it. The excitement of being able to create useful accessories for themselves spurred him on in establishing Timpanogos Saddlery in 1995. Then after receiving permission from his beautiful wife Becky in 1996, he trekked off to Colorado with her blessing where he learned more about this passion from his mentor and friend Fred Harsant. The education he received from Fred was saddle making from the ground up, which is saddle tree to the finished product.
Becky Crawford
Administration
As Skip’s wife, with her BS in Business with an emphasis in Finance, she is the one who keeps the books. Not only does she keep the books, she’s also the one who hand-ties the mohair cinches, and has her hand in making some of the custom ordered chaps. She supports her husband fully in his ambition to make this part-time job a full-time job after they both retire.
Although she works a full-time job at Brigham Young University, in her spare time she works the horses. She enjoys trail riding and being up in the mountains. She is currently very active in Utah’s Mounted Search and Rescue (Utah County Sheriffs Posse) and is current on all of her continuing education as an EMT and first responder.
